4. OBSERVATION ON TEACHER(S)
My Cooperating Teacher at FEUR High School is Prof. Nonilo Cuevo Jr. He is a science teacher and focuses on biology. Before teaching, he makes lesson plans and powerpoints based on the material to be taught.
4.2 PREPARING LESSONS AND MATERIALS
The lesson plans in FEUR (Philippines) is different from the lesson plans in Indonesia. The lesson plans at FEUR write down all the activities that will be carried out including mentioning possible responses from students. Some of the materials they have to prepare include: the most important are lesson plans, learning media such as PowerPoint, and guidebooks. The teacher teaches according to the lesson plan he has made. Starting from greetings, providing motivation to giving assignments or evaluations.
4.3 TEACHING IN CLASS
The first time is a preliminary activity. In this section the teacher carries out activities such as giving greetings, asking students to prepare themselves, preparing textbooks, checking attendance and finally providing motivation for the topic to be discussed so that students are more enthusiastic about learning. For example, the teacher will show several pictures or videos about a topic and ask students to respond to the pictures/videos. Sometimes teachers also provide reviews of topics that have been studied at previous meetings.
Then the teacher will start from the correct lesson steps. In this section the teacher explains the lesson topic. After that the teacher asked students to discuss and ask several questions about the topic. During the presentation process, the teacher will ask students whether they know or not about the material being discussed. If students don't know, the teacher will provide instructions so students can answer. Next, go to the generalization section. In this section the teacher makes a review of the topics that have been studied today. The teacher asks some questions and then moves on to the next step, Evaluation. The final step is assignment. The teacher gives assignments to students based on the material discussed today or the material that will be discussed at the next meeting. The class ended with greetings from the students, they said thank you, Mr. Cuevo.
4.4 MEASUREMENT AND EVALUATION
The teacher provides an evaluation after completing discussion of a topic. Evaluation can be in the form of question and answer questions or sometimes also in the form of problem solving. This is done so that students remember what they have learned previously. Sometimes teachers also give assignments to students. At the end of the lesson the teacher tells the next material and the students are asked to study it.
